Litha and School Preparations

Blessings and welcome!

I successfully completed my Litha painting – just in time for the holiday at the end of this coming week. I have always been a “sun-person” – I am a sun sign (Leo), I love warm summer nights, and I can totally understand why early human civilizations worshiped the sun!

Tomorrow my grad school program in English begins and I will be documenting my progress on my other blog.

In the meantime I plan to keep those nature-based paintings coming, but probably at a slower pace.

Until next time, peace and blessings on the path towards your most authentic self.

Spring and the Goddess Within

Feminine Form

Feminine Form

The female figure is glorious in all its forms.  It is our first home and the universal symbol of comfort and beauty. As we celebrate the wondrous rebirth of Mother Earth through Spring, may we remember to honor the Goddess in all her forms.  The woman’s body – your body – is precious, regardless of its size, regardless of its appearance.  Honor it and honor the Goddess within.

Until next time, peace and blessings on the path towards your most authentic self.

Marching Towards Eostara

As I continue my first real body of work on the Wiccan wheel of the year, I am pleased by my steady progress – though it is never as quick as I’d like it to be.  I am now balancing a day job, a relationship, and classes, so finding any time to paint is a blessing.

Below are some work-in-progress pictures of my latest painting. It honors Eostara, the pagan origin of Easter, coming to us on March 21.  The holiday celebrates fertility, life, renewal, the lengthening of the daylight hours, and gratitude for surviving the winter.  I hope to communicate a sense of the intense bond between the god and the goddess through my painting, once it’s completed.  We owe a debt of gratitude to this bond, the Yin and Yang of Universe, because it is the source of the Magic of life.

Until next time, peace and blessings on the path towards your most authentic self.

My New Digital Video and Painting

I’ve been having fun playing with digital art lately. The following video is me having fun with phone camera photos taken by me and some classmates, free sample music, and Windows Media. It’s rough and needs work, but it’s a lot of fun!:

Also, below is the latest update of my Imbolc painting.  The picture’s not that great because I took it with my phone, but I’ll put a better one in the Paintings gallery for next week.

Now I need to start preparing for the next one – for Ostara/Spring Equinox/Easter.  Coming up with the idea is always the hardest part!  After that comes the fun!

I’ve also been continuing to read Don Miguel Ruiz’s The Four Agreements.  I feel like the last two agreements: Don’t Make Assumptions and Always Do Your Best are much easier to incorporate than the first two.  What is most important to me is having my spirituality show up in my behavior.  It’s not about what we believe, it’s about what we do – how we treat the people in our immediate circle, and the impact we have on the larger world.

Until next time, peace and blessings on the path towards your most authentic self.

Love and Light,
