It’s about two minutes until my birthday. I was supposed to be in bed at least three hours ago, but art seduced me, as usual. Yes, I will have to drag through my day job tomorrow, but, yes, it was worth it.
I’m going through The Artist’s Way by Julie Cameron again. The last time I took that journey was about eight years ago. It’s amazing how much you can get out of a good book the second (or third, or fourth) time around.
I know myself much better now. I’ve shed some of the mental and emotional baggage collected over the years. I’m freer now, happier, and wiser.
Yet art is such a deeply spiritual and personal thing. There is always more to learn, more ways to grow, deeper levels to get to. I am loving the adventure of it all. Last time I read the book, I lived in Los Angeles and was in art school. Eight years later, I’m in Houston, working a day job that pays for my art supplies.
I’m really excited to see what the next six months will bring. Something feels significant about that time frame.
Alright…so I’ve been old(er) for two minutes now. Time to ring in the big day with a couple hours sleep!
