work in progress "After the Maypole"

work in progress “After the Maypole”

This week has been a delicate balance between my two loves – art and writing.  The above painting is my painting for Beltane. It is not quite finished but it captures the spirit that I wanted it to have. It captures the expectation and longing between the couple and the joy and frivolity of the traditional maypole game.

I decided to use acrylic on canvas. I haven’t used acrylics for years and it has been quite a challenge. Oil has a natural flow to it that is easier for portraits but I love the brightness and fun of acrylics.  Also, acrylic paint simply requires water rather than any special medium  or brush cleaner.

So I continue to grow and experiment as that is what life is all about. And I am eagerly looking forward to my next painting for Litha, the Summer Solstice.

Until next time, peace and blessings on the path towards your most authentic self.

Love and Light,

Raven
